1. Being alive. Last night my mom, Kendall, and I were driving to Lawrence for a family dinner. At about 5:15 we were on 1-70. I looked out the window and noticed this strange, white cloud was hanging down and kind of moving. It'd get a little longer, then shorter, then it looked like a big spiral, but it wasn't moving fast enough to really freak me out. If you don't know, I'm TERRIFIED of tornadoes. When we got to Lawrence the sirens went off. We'd gotten off at the wrong exit and didn't know exactly where we were, so it took us awhile to get to my Aunt's. Thankfully, Aaron answered and told me not to worry... but no one in the family had even given us a heads up about the Tornado Watch. WHAT? Anyway, we sat through dinner and everything with the sirens going off, but no one seemed to be too concerned. It turns out that the cloud I saw WAS the tornado that hit the ground and destroyed houses at approximately 5:20. OH MY GOODNESS.
2. Being home and seeing my mom and family. Aside from the tornado incident, I got to go to the city market, drink cherry lemonade, go to an art gallery, eat a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting from Baby Cakes, eat half a pineapple with cream cheese frosting cupcake from Baby Cakes, go to a working gallery, go to an awesome AMC theatre and watch State of Play while eating popcorn and drinking soda, and go to Lawrence to eat smoked turkey, beets in orange sauce, asparagus, corn casserole, wine, and an awesome chocolate pudding with alcohol dessert! DELICIOUS! Then, I watched SNL with my mom and went to sleep.
3. Having the bed to myself. I love stretching out and sleeping however I want. I love Matt, but I'm a weird sleeper and it's hard to be confided to one side of the bed all the time.
4. Food. I love food.
5. Having two days off! (I'm not really looking forward to being up at 6am tomorrow, but I'm happy for the time I had here.)
